Anesthesiology
Monday - Friday: Cases start at 7:30am – 3:30 or 5:30 pm. Mix of 8s and 10s, weeknight call starts at 5:30 pm. Shifts evenly rotated between providers. ASC hours are 7:30 – 3:30. 5:30 pm – 7:30 am 2 providers cover weeknight and weekend call. Primary In-house call and Secondary call.
Weeknight Call Rotation: 3 weeknights per month, potential opportunity for more in start-up phase
Weekend Call Rotation: 7 weekends per year, potential opportunity for more in start-up phase
Call Back Response Time: Provider on Primary call to stay in house in hospital anesthesia room or hospital housing for call. Gets post call day off. Secondary call radius 30 minutes. No post call day off for secondary call, but first out on peel out.
3 weeks on/1 week off rotation
Type of cases required: Mostly General, endo**, ortho, urology, ***HIGH-RISK OB (including VBACs)***, GYN, Cancer, Liver. Some Vascular, ENT, Radiology with Anesthesia, Cosmetics, Podiatry, Pulmonary, very light Cardiac (TEE and Brain-back). **Endo is mainly at the ASC – close to 2100 cases per year
Supervision: No, working independently doing own cases.
Spinals, Blocks, Epidurals - must be proficient: Yes
Credentialing Timeframe: 60-90 days (Temps are available with a clear background / malpractice history and active, unrestricted license)
Caselogs required: Yes - proof of epidurals, spinals and blocks
EMR System: MedAxion
Vaccination Required:
Licenses: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
*Must be NBCRNA certified.
Additional Facts Regarding Site:
Daily Model: 6 CRNAs, 4 MDs Daily, 1 provider on post call day off from first call – 9 providers working per day. 7 providers at main hospital with 2 providers in late room and 2 in CRNAs in ASC. All providers rotate evenly between the sites.
Model Type: Not supervision or medical direction. CRNAs and MDs working independently doing own cases.
Special Notes or Stipulations Regarding Site: High case volume, All providers work their own cases, high risk OB, 1300 births per year, No Nicu at the hospital, so if there are issues the baby is shipped to South bend or Fort Wayne. In-house call provider will have an anesthesia only call room.
